Delta Brain Waves

Delta waves are the brainwaves with very low frequency, ranging from 0.5-3.5 Hz. Delta waves usually occur when a person is in a very deep sleep or a coma.

Delta brainwaves can also occur in newborn babies or individuals in a deep relaxation state. During deep sleep, the brain only produces delta waves to allow us to rest and recover physically.

Delta waves help in the recovery of cells, tissue repair, and the release of growth hormones that are important for physical recovery and body regeneration.

Delta is also called the orienting response because it functions to orient us in time and space. Delta functions as an early warning system to sense threats or dangers. Delta allows us to perceive information that is not accessible to the conscious mind.
