Theta Brain Waves

Theta waves occur at a relatively low frequency, ranging from 4-7 hertz (Hz). Theta brainwaves occur when a person is in a relaxed state, drowsy, or light sleep. Theta brainwaves can also occur when a person is in deep meditation or a hypnotic state.

Theta waves are involved in processing emotions and memories. When theta waves increase, a person can access memories, confront buried emotions, and experience emotional healing processes.

Theta waves often occur when a person is drowsy or in light sleep. Theta brainwaves can help facilitate the transition between sleep and wakefulness and may play a role in the consolidation of memories that occur during sleep. When we successfully enter the theta state, we will experience a very deep meditative state.

All the meditative experiences that people seek during meditation practice, such as silence, depth, calm, peace, and happiness, are experienced in the theta state. Theta is the peak of peak experiences.
